Breaking Through the Dark Cloud of Fear and Doubt

I woke up Monday morning feeling a familiar feeling that only comes up every 6 or so months.

A dark cloud was hanging heavy around my head and poking at my self-esteem.

I couldn’t shake the feeling as I blended my bulletproof coffee and poured it into my favourite coffee cup. As I snapped the lid on, tears began to form and slowly drip down my face.

You’re not good enough for this business.

I tried to ignore the thought and push it away from my mind since it’s been surfacing for the past few days.

I practiced my affirmations and would chant in the shower.

“You are worthy of a successful business.

Despite not seeing the results, I continued to post content consistently on social media.

Although I had a possible client, they were taking their time filling out the forms, which added to my anguish.

Failure is not an option, but why am I feeling so shitty.

Memories surfaced from my childhood of feeling like the black sheep in every aspect of my life and feeling unsupported in family and school.

But mostly, not good enough

Logically, I know this is not true, that it stems from unresolved issues from my past, but pushing down the feelings will only cause more emotional stress.

Rather than suppressing my emotions, I let them wash over me during my drive to the chiropractor's appointment. I permitted myself to experience the fear and uncertainty of potential failure throughout the day and into the night.

Luckily, a few friends supported and encouraged me to keep showing up for my business, and with that support, the dark, heavy cloud began to pass.

Rejection is difficult in business and life. It can chip at your self-esteem, causing feelings of unworthiness, which is why many will give up on their dreams while others are resilient and will succeed.

So here I am, showing up, posting content, and writing my articles while waiting for my potential clients to fill out their forms.
